Public Relations in Organizational Image Management
Chapter One
1.1 Background of the Study
Every organization depends on its public image to survive in a competitive environment. A strong image attracts customers, investors, and partners. Public relations (PR) serves as a vital tool for building and maintaining that image through effective communication (Ijeoma, 2021).
Public relations involves creating mutual understanding between an organization and its publics. It includes activities such as press releases, media relations, event management, and community engagement. According to Chukwu (2022), PR helps organizations manage crises, build credibility, and foster goodwill among stakeholders.
In todayβs digital world, organizations face constant public scrutiny. News spreads rapidly on social media, making reputation management more complex. A single miscommunication can damage years of positive image-building. Therefore, consistent and strategic PR efforts are essential to ensure public confidence and trust.
This study examines how public relations contributes to organizational image management. It focuses on the methods used to project positive images and handle reputational challenges effectively.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Many organizations underestimate the importance of public relations in maintaining their public image. Some do not have dedicated communication teams, while others respond poorly to public criticism. As a result, their reputations suffer, and public confidence declines. This study investigates how effective PR strategies influence organizational image and stakeholder trust.
