Design and Implementation of a Cybersecurity Awareness Training Platform
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
Cybersecurity has become a major concern as organizations increasingly depend on digital platforms. Cyberattacks, data breaches, and phishing scams continue to rise globally, affecting individuals and institutions alike. Many of these threats succeed because users lack adequate awareness and training (Nwosu, 2022).
Developing a cybersecurity awareness training platform can help users recognize and prevent cyber threats. Such platforms provide interactive lessons, simulations, and assessments that teach best practices in online security. When users understand how to identify threats, they can act responsibly and reduce the risk of data compromise (Eze & Bello, 2023).
Consequently, this study aims to design and implement a cybersecurity awareness training platform that educates users about safe online behavior and information protection.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing number of cyber incidents, many individuals and employees lack basic cybersecurity knowledge. Most training programs are theoretical and fail to provide practical learning experiences. As a result, users remain vulnerable to attacks. Therefore, there is a need for an engaging and interactive training platform that helps people understand, identify, and respond effectively to cyber threats.
1.3 Aim and Objectives of the Study
The main aim of this study is to design and implement a cybersecurity awareness training platform that promotes digital safety.
The specific objectives are to:
-
Develop an interactive platform that teaches cybersecurity principles.
-
Include simulations that demonstrate real-world cyber threats.
-
Assess usersβ understanding through quizzes and performance tracking.
-
Evaluate the effectiveness of the platform in improving awareness.
1.4 Significance of the Study
The study contributes to the global effort to reduce cybercrime through education. It empowers individuals and organizations to protect themselves by making informed security decisions. Furthermore, it provides a model for using e-learning platforms to promote cybersecurity awareness across various sectors.
1.5 Scope of the Study
The study focuses on the design of an online platform for cybersecurity education. It does not include integration with external cybersecurity tools or corporate training systems.
1.6 Definition of Terms
Cybersecurity: The protection of computer systems and networks from digital attacks.
Phishing: A fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information through deceptive messages.
Simulation: A virtual scenario used to mimic real-world situations for learning.
1.7 Organization of the Project
This research consists of five structured chapters.
The first chapter introduces the study and outlines its objectives and significance.
Chapter two reviews related works on cybersecurity awareness and training systems.
In chapter three, the design, architecture, and methodology are discussed.
Chapter four focuses on system development, testing, and performance evaluation.
Finally, chapter five provides a summary, conclusions, and recommendations.
