The Role of Academic Libraries in Supporting E-Learning: A Study of Babcock University
Chapter One
1.1 Background of the Study
Academic libraries play a crucial role in supporting e-learning. E-learning involves the use of electronic resources, online platforms, and digital tools for teaching and learning. Libraries provide access to e-books, online journals, databases, and learning management systems that enhance the e-learning experience (Aina, 2019).
Babcock University Library offers a range of digital resources to support e-learning. Students and faculty can access online journals, e-books, and research databases from campus or remotely. Librarians also provide guidance on navigating these resources, ensuring users can efficiently obtain information (Fawole, 2020).
Despite these services, challenges such as limited internet access, inadequate training, and insufficient digital resources can hinder e-learning support. Understanding the role of academic libraries in e-learning helps identify strategies to improve resource availability and user engagement.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
While Babcock University Library provides digital resources for e-learning, some students and staff face challenges accessing them. Poor internet connectivity, limited awareness of available resources, and lack of technical support reduce the effectiveness of e-learning. These issues can negatively impact academic performance and research productivity. Therefore, it is important to investigate how academic libraries support e-learning.
